Astrology and nimithangal
In todays generation nimitha sasthram is considered as superstition. If we use this nimitha sasthram...
hen Buddha said “Nothing Exists” he actually talks about the mind.
Because mind W is the non-existential evil that feeds on the “weekness” of hummans and gains a false existence of its own that results in untold
miseries.
There are numerous examples in our literature to show how men of great
merit have constructed the road of self-destruction on their own. “Silapathikaram”
shows how Kovalan systematically suffers after forsaking his righteous companion
and his family and finally get destroyed. It was all because of his lust. Ramayana
explains how Ravana, who has acquired unparalleled strength both spiritual and
physical through his devotion to Shiva, was exterminated along with his kin and
country men and his city ransacked. The undefeatable Ravana, who even held
control over the nine planets was destroyed due to his lust. Duryodana in
Mahabaratha was also destroyed inspite of his superior might and numbers in the
war against pandavas.
The right qualities that are not contradictory to the will of God has to be
developed, such qualities if developed will take a person close to divine, and will
never let you down.
Grace Love and Devotion are all the qualities that needs to be cherished and
practiced to attain greatness and nearness to God. Ravana is one perfect example of
how one-pointed devotion can lift us to immeasurable heights in the realm of
psychological strength. The Christ and Mother Theresa are Grace-personified, it is
their image that comes in our mind when we think of the word Grace. Saint Vallalar
was the embodiment of “Love” who made no difference between plants, animals and
humans, and loved every being in this earth alike.
But qualities like anger, lust, jealousness, will destroy us sooner or later. The puranas gives us many examples of how such unnatural and immoral desires lead people to destruction. Mind is the most mysterious phenomena so far understood (or misunderstood ) than anything in this world. False perceptions, and ideas and imaginations out of such perceptions, getting motivated out of such ideas and imaginations and acting with ego and finally accumulating the imprint of the actions and emotions entertained in that action is the unending process that the humans are desperate to get rid of. Everything starts with the false perception of mind. Mind makes friends and enemies, discard one and entertain another, love and hate, appreciate and disapprove it is all are the work of mind. Mind works through the senses. Thousands of thought currents enter into us and the focus and attention to it through our senses gives life to such thoughts and they become engraved in our memory and continuous exposure to such thought current forms a circuit in our mind and this constantly makes us to do a certain thing like a robot. This kind of enslavement cannot be broken until the mental circuit is rewired. Do we need any other example than Ravana who had fallen from the height of his greatness and dignity, and it was wonder of wonders that how a man who has held control over all the nine planets had so powerlessly gave in for a little trifle in his mind with the sight of Seetha !. The senses are very susceptible to enslavement, if it finds pleasure in a sweat it would crave every moment to get the taste of it, and if you restrict it forcefully it would move all the heaven and earth to get it in some way or other !. Many of us have experienced it. Here the “decision making” component of the mind plays a very important role in helping us to get out of enlslavement. The “Buddhi” or the intellect or intelligence is always with us to make a firm declaration by analyzing the after effects, its necessity and need and simultaneously avoiding or accepting it.
