HOROSCOPE ANALYSIS

SASHTIYAMSAM:

Sashtiyamsam is a part in astrology that is based on calculations. It divides a zodiac into 60 parts i.e., 1 zodiac = 120’ (minutes) and 2’ = 1 sashtiyamsam. Thus, a zodiac has 60 sashtiyamsams. So, even a difference of two minutes can cause huge differences and in extreme cases lead to an error in recording of the actual zodiac.

Similarly, the five elements have a calculation of their own.

Earth (Prithvi) - 75’

Water (Appu) - 60’

Fire (Dheyu) - 45’

Wind (Vaayu) -30’

Space - 15’

The total minutes for the elements is 225.

We know that a zodiac has 30⁰ and each degree has 60’. This means that each zodiac has 1800’.

(1800/225) gives 8 and the 8 units is called pozhudhu (aka poludhu).

1.5 hours equals a yamam (this time period is the same for aMuhurtham). There are 8 yamams (12 hours) during the day and 8 yamams during the night.

It takes 24 hours for the earth to rotate around the sun. As there are 12 zodiacs, each would take 2 hours (120 minutes).

120 minutes = 1 zodiac = 1800’

1 minute = 1800/120 = 15’

60 seconds = 1 minute = 15’

Ergo, 1’ = 4 seconds.

It is apparent that with a difference in just four seconds, the appropriate element for an individual would change leading to massive confusions.

Current scenario:

This 4 second difference is regarding the accurate birth time. In today’s world, a natural delivery has become a rarity. Moreover, there are those who seek astrologers for an auspicious date and time of C-section for the delivery, much like they would do for knee replacement surgeries and other major operations. Nowadays, it is the people who determine the birth of their child and not nature. When the situation is as such, one cannot help but wonder the mammoth discrepancies in horoscope, its calculation and prediction of such children’s future.
