ALMANAC, AYANAMSAM, AND LAGNAM
A horoscope has three details – time, date, and place of birth. These decide the zodiac, the star,... Read More
What is astrology? Is astrology the same as it was a few hundred years back? What are the misinterpretations do people do when it comes to planets and day to day life?
This article will answer these questions. This piece of work is a compilation of the basic truths behind astrology as well as that of my observations on the gap between the fundamentals of astrology and the way it is understood and practiced in modern times.
All over the world, there are researches that are being carried out to this day, in order to improve or add information to this ancient art. To be honest, astrology is an already complete tool with which we can simplify our lives.
ABOUT THE ART:
All of us have expectations, some much more than others. In order to meet those expectations, we put in the best of our efforts. There are those who refuse to give even a 15% of work to get what they need and end up being miserable when they get what they deserve. Most of these people see astrology as a means to end up with their heart’s desire and nothing more.
This blind belief and the guileful words of Chaldeans lure in the lazy critters for further disappointments. In truth, astrology is more than just knowing one’s future and horoscopes. Millennia ago, our ancestors were part of a flourished civilization. Well versed in the art of astrology, yogis, sadhus, pandits, and astrologers used their knowledge in helping out the people, and in making the society a better place. Lamentably, the footprints of the divine practice were lost, obfuscated, or fragmented.
Vedas were a god given gift to the people in order to help them with understanding their purpose in life. If the Vedas are regarded as the chest containing the secrets to/of a happy and peaceful life, then astrology is the key that opens those secrets to an individual who seeks that. It is not just a means to know one’s future but also a guide to divinity. However, with time, the fundamental principle of ‘seeking God’ disappeared and only ‘looking into the future’ prevailed.

MAHABARATHA AND RAMAYANA:
This notion is a byproduct of the firm belief that it is the planets that decide our fates. Many are too adamant in shaking off this mind numbingly dull and dangerous presumption that if they could have a clear control over the planets and their meanings, they could be the masters of their lives. This is proved incorrect and false in the two major Hindu epics. Let us see a brief note on how they teach us this.
In the Great War in Mahabaratha, Duryodhana sought the help of Sahadevan, possibly the greatest astrologer of all times. Though he was his enemy, Sahadevan calculated the right time at which he should start the war so that his victory is ensured. The war began but Lord Krishna was worried that if Duryodhana would go on to win the war, it would change the world forever. So, he played a cosmic game, altered the flow of time and made the war to commence at the wrong instance. This led to Duryodhana’s defeat.
Similarly, in Ramayana, Ravana stands as a good example to the thought that planets are everything in astrology. With his pious penance, he bought the all of the planets under his control. With that power, he could have become anyone, done anything. But he chose to do an ignoble action which resulted in what we all know today.
Thus, both the epics clearly show us that the planets denote certain aspects in a person’s life, it is ultimately God’s justice that matters and acts as the final factor. If people offend him, he will punish them with hardships and obstacles; if they please him, they will be blessed. This is something that transcends astrology and planets. It is imperative that each of us understand it and act according to God’s will.
PAST LIFE AND PRASNA:
Not every human being is the same. We all have our own lives, bodies, attitudes, ways of thinking, and many other personal aspects. These are all because of the nature of our past life. The karma of our past life is ingrained in our soul. This ingrained quality later dictates the time, place, and the type of body as well as the family into which we should be born in on our next lives. This means that the nature of our past lives basically decides our horoscopes. Hence, it is clear that our past is beyond the reach of horoscopes.
Almost all of us are under the impression that astrology and horoscope are the same. Actually, horoscopes are just one among the five other tools that make up the art. The other tools are Prasna, Muhurtha, Nimittha, Ganitha, and Gola. It is only with Prasna that one can look back into the past to search for any ill lying within one’s soul that may prevent any happiness or success from entering their lives. Prasna is the only tool that makes use of all the other tools in its calculation.
Unless and until an individual realizes the impact of his past actions, they will be left with unanswered questions, troubles, problems, and confusions. Another thing to understand is that not everything that is said to happen according to a horoscope will happen in reality. It all depends on the person’s actions, the will of God, and the person’s past life. With proper use of one’s time and resources, one can easily overcome any shortcomings in their horoscope.
REMEDIES AND THEIR SIGNIFICANCE:
When someone comes across an ill that is influenced through their past lives, they need to rectify them or reduce their potency so as to be relieved. It is only with parihaarams that one can do this. These ills can be hurting humans, animals, or gods through words, thoughts, or actions. Karma gives a soul what it deserves in the present life. Oozh gives the unspent karma from the previous life to the present life.Astrologers use the Prasna tool in levelling out the bad karma from the oozh.
When consulting an astrologer, he or she will suggest appropriate remedies for the recurring obstacles which are results of the bad deeds from previous life. While doing these remedies, one must concentrate their body mind and soul on the bad things that they have done in the past lives. Only by keeping our thoughts on this and doing the suggested remedies can one truly brush off the negatives from their previous lives.
Sadly, no such practice is in effect today. People are more interested in getting away from their haunting experiences rather than actually carrying out the remedies as they were intended. This is the main reason why most remedies by modern people fail to do their job. There is no point in doing something that connects the soul without having a proper understanding of it.
TODAY’S USE OF ASTROLOGY:
Without knowing anything about these, the society has fallen behind in coping up with the truths behind the things that our ancestors have left for us. Today, astrology is used for checking horoscopes for marriages, vehicle prospects, professional life, and other such mundane aspects. Some are a step further down searching for daily, monthly, and yearly predictions solely based on their zodiac signs.
Charlatans who come across such ignorant believers who do not know what astrology truly is, steal away their wealth by performing phony rituals and false remedies on their behalf, tricking them into thinking that they are actually safe and free, when in reality, they are not. It is devastating to see that there is no way to see who is a real astrologer and who is a fraud in these trying times.
Other forms of support are provided by fields like numerology and gemology. These are merely a surface relief and not the complete package. We must accept the fact that without repenting for our sins, both the past life’s as well as that of the present’s (from birth till the current time), and without considering God’s will, there will be no true relief or happiness. Most of the times, we only see astrology as a means to get what we need. When we proceed with this attitude, we either face failure or more problems.
CONCLUSION:
Faith is essential for worship. Likewise, in order to perform remedies, one must truly connect with their soul. To have a clear and pure conscience, one must reach deep into their soul. By following these, one can easily tune in to divinity and better their life. Not only are they more open to divinity but also strengthened in their mind and soul. If the mind and soul are pure, it will help the individual in their next life to be happier. Astrology is beyond time, space, and human understanding. Proper use of it with a pure conscience and divine presence will guarantee happiness and success in our life
