PROBLEMS AND GOD:
Only when we encounter problems that we do not understand do we resort toparihaarams, worships, homas, poojas, etc. In such cases, it is vital to look into the reasons and causes behind said problems before attempting to treat them. If we have severe physical ailments, we would go to specialized doctors and treatment centers who would then direct us towards the appropriate methods to find the reasons behind the ailments. Astrology too does just that.
Nowadays, people lean onthe treatment methods for the body and mind for any issues. Although there is nothing wrong in it, it is in fact, unfortunate. This is because, unless and until people reach out to their soul prior to making any efforts, they would never succeed in getting the right solution.
However, there is also no denying the fact that activities like poojas, worships, homas, yoga, meditation, etc., show considerable results. But, they almost always do not provide a permanent solution. Reaching out to one’s inner self is the first step in understanding God. All of us seek shelter in God’s presence. Yet, it is common to see people murmuring that there are no improvements in their lives even with poojas, worships and such things. The major reason would be due to the fact that they haven’t understood God yet.
Vedas, ecclesiasticus, upanishads, mythologies, and puranas all teach us on how to approach and please God. Sadly, with modern lifestyles, we have fallen behind in even reading or getting to know about these God given gifts. We may have a number of shortcomings and mistakes in our lives. As a result of those, we may face hardships. Divine justice can only be apprehended by mulling over the reasons for our troubles and tribulations.
In truth, God doesn’t intentionally hurt any of his creations. This is a basic concept to realize and accept en route arriving at his foot. There is an excerpt in AndalPasuram, Thiruppavai, that says ‘much like how a tiny spark would turn a mountain of objects to ashes, all our sins and mistakes, even those from our previous lives, will be turned to nothing when we reach God’.
MODERN TIMES:
Until some 60 or 70 years ago, astrology was confined to the rich and the high class people. The main reason that it became mainstream is because of the inability of the people to understand the divine justice and becoming one with modern science that drives us away from God. Astrology simplifies the process of understanding just that and helps us in making our lives better by leading us towards God.
It doesn’t matter if we follow astrology or religion. What matters is whether or not we have understood God. In astrology, reaching out to one’s inner self is tantamount to reaching God.Here, the body and mind end with each life but the soul carries on with whatever information it had learnt in each of its life until it reaches God.
Varahamihirar, after completing his first work Kanidhaskandham, began his next one, titled Horasashtra. In order to complete his work without any obstacles, he pleads his favorite God, the Sun God, in the second sentence of the first sloga. It translates to “astrology is a simple course through which people can reach God”. Virtue, material riches, happiness, and home are the aspects that a person would achieve in his/her lifetime. The home mentioned here is God. So, the final destination of any soul is God and astrology is the only tool that is simple enough to aid someone in the process. Hence, one who is well versed in this will ultimately be a recipient of all the four aspects.
If and when we truly grasp the fact that this life is but a passing cloud on the way to higher things, we will lose interest on mundane riches and reach God faster. Without a basic knowledge of this, there is no point in following horoscope based astrology and clueless worships. Today, most of us have our horoscopes. But whether these horoscopes are true in their potential is a billion dollar question which will be discussed in the next article.
